Shanghai Wild Animal Park
The zoo is arranged according to the natural living habits of the wild animals. The animals are mainly kept free in the zoo accompanied by scattered feeding and enclosed feeding. There are about 200 species of precious and rare animals found in different places throughout the world. The zoo is divided into the herbivorous, the carnivorous, the flamingo area, the scattered-keeping area, the water fowl lake and the rare and precious animal enclosed-keeping area. There is also a birds garden, a butterfly garden and a children's pet zoo. Visitors are entertained with performances by sea lions and some other animals.
Jade Buddah Temple
The Jade Buddah Temple is one of Shanghai's few Buddhist Temples and attracts a large number of tourists every year. The centrepiece is a 2m high white jade buddah that the temple was built around. The Buddah is said to weigh 1000kg, along with a smaller Buddah reclining on a mahogany couch.
Yuyuan Garden
The Yu Yuan, is characteristic of the architectural style of the Ming dynasty. It is a private garden in the southeast of Shanghai, with a history of more than 400 years. The Garden, reminiscent of those in Suzhou, features more than 30 halls and pavilions. It is divided into six parts, each separated by a white brick wall, the top of which forms and undulating gray dragon. Each part of the park, although divided, has a balance and harmony creating a unity of expression.
Lingyin Si
Originally founded in 326AD by a Buddhist monk returning from India, this wonderful temple has been restored and rebuilt no less than 16 times over the centuries. The main attraction is an enormous 20m high Sakyamuni Buddha statue, meticulously carved from camphor wood and decorated with gold. The temple's large halls and vast pillars remain awesome.
