Guangdong Province is one of China's most prosperous cities. It's capital Guangzhou is closely located to Hong Kong which makes this city rather unique due to the fact that it has been trading with the rest of the world for hundreds of years. Its remoteness to the rest of China in a sense makes it more Westernised.Xiqiao Hills is a beautiful area made up of lakes, caves, waterfalls and mountains.
It is located 68kms south west of Guangzhou.
Humen is located on the Pearl River and was in the middle of the Opium wars and a museum has been erected with entire history including all the information from the Treaty.
Do's and Dont's:
Should you be invited to a Chinese home for a meal it is polite to take a gift. Flowers and chocolates are acceptable, however should you take something imported you would be widely respected and win (should it be for business) the deal or at least points in your favour.
When offering a cigarette do so with the packet open, do not hand over a single cigarette. For business purposes to give you counter part the entire pack would be most favourable.
Use both hands when presenting paper to another person in China. This shows respect.
