In the early 1500's the Portuguese sailed into Macau and since then has been a major player for business people. Macau lies 60kms south west of Hong Kong and is accessible by Hydrofoil or air.

It is unique because Macau has a combination of Portuguese architecture and with a strong Chinese influence, which is also reflected in the cuisine. Chinese love to visit Macau for its fine racecourse and casinos.

Even though Macau was given back to China in December 1999 it still retains much of its renowned mix of Western and Chinese culture.

Due south of Macau are the islands of Taipa and Coloane two bridges connect the mainland with Taipa. Taipa houses the Macau University and has a number of intermite restaurants serving some of the best food that Macau has to offer.

Coloane has some lovely little beaches. Cheoc Van Beach is a lovely spot with white sand and Hac Sa Beach equally as nice has black sand.

Climate

The climate is generally sub tropical. However in the summer months from May through to September the temperature on average will be 33 degrees with 90% humidity. Winters are usually mild with an average of 17 degrees and roughly 70% humidity.
